St. Bartholomew’s United Church strives to be accessible and welcoming to all. We have taken special steps to ease the comfort of those who have a disability. At the north side of our Church we have a ramp that has a gradual slope and is negotiable with an electric wheel chair. At the top of this ramp we have an electric door opener so that there is no struggle with a heavy door. At this level there is easy access to our Gymnasium, stage, kitchen, disabled washroom facility and our Sanctuary. Within the Sanctuary we have arranged the Pew’s so that you may remain in a wheelchair, or keep a rollator/walker handy. Photos of these areas follow this message. If required we have wheel chairs and walkers available on our premises for use by our members. Our sound system operator has a supply of individual hearing assist devises that may be borrowed during the service, and our order of service can be made available in larger print. Finally we have implemented the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities act (AODA) of 2005. This includes establishing an Accessibility Liaison Committee, with representation at our Official Board level.
Our Commitment follows:
In fulfilling our mission, St. Bartholomew’s United Church strives at all times to provide its programs, goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. We are also committed to giving people with disabilities the same opportunity to access our programs, goods and services and allowing them to benefit from the same services, in the same place and in a similar way as other participants.
